Learn How to Surrender Like Jesus.

Learn How to Surrender Like Jesus.

Are you facing a problem in life that you just can't fix, no matter what you do? Perhaps you've heard the phrase "Let go and let God." But it's easier said than done. Is it possible that giving up on what you can't change is God's path to peace for your life? In this six-week Bible study of Jesus in the wilderness, Barb explores Jesus' time of testing and contrasts it with the Israelites' failures in the wilderness. As you learn from Jesus' example, you'll discover six principles that will equip you to let God lead you to victory despite your circumstances as you deal with the problems and pain you are facing:

1. Recognize You Can’t Handle It
2. Stop Following Your Feelings
3. Give Up Control and Reach for God
4. Embrace God’s Better Blessing
5. Let Go of Fear
6. Experience the Blessings of a Surrendered Life

If you're tired of following your feelings or being disappointed by unchanging circumstances, learn how to surrender like Jesus and experience God's power and peace in your life as never before.

Other components for the Bible study, available separately, include a Participant Workbook and Leader Guide.

In Session 1, Barb reminds us that although we may not be in control of others or outcomes, we can be assured that God always loves us and is for us. She presents five SHINE behaviors that we turn to when we become impatient as well as three ABCs for surviving circumstances that we can’t control.

In the wilderness, we can face big feelings that tempt us to take control. In Session 2, Barb encourages us to choose to live by faith rather than rush to follow our feelings, reminding us that we have the power of the Holy Spirit to strengthen us against temptation and help us trust God’s promises and follow His priorities for our lives.

Session 3 explores what happens when we get frustrated over our circumstances and try to force our way, rather than trusting God to make a way. Barb reminds us that God gives us a beautiful invitation to let go of trying to fix or force and instead follow Him toward His best, which will always bless us in every way.

In Session 4, we’re reminded that pursuing what we want or expect in life will always leave our souls in great need. We will never find happiness in power, people, places, or things. Barb offers us this memorable surrender principle: “Trusting God’s promises will bless me, but pushing my plans will stress me.”

In Session 5 we see that Jesus came to earth to show us what it looks like to bring Gods power and promises into the most difficult situations in life. We are overcomers because Jesus overcame on our behalf. Barb encourages us that even in a long wilderness season, we can stand strong and walk in victory because Jesus has already won that victory for us.

In Session 6, Barb uses the Japanese art of kintsukuroi to show that the surrendered life is not about perfection. It’s more like a priceless piece of artwork that God creates from the broken pieces and devastated ashes of our lives. There will always be circumstances out of our control, but surrender is our only path to God’s power, peace, and provision.
